In the Church's liturgy the divine blessing is fully revealed and communicated. the Father is acknowledged and adored as the source and the end of all the blessings of creation and salvation. In his Word who became incarnate, died, and rose for us, he fills us with his blessings. Through his Word, he pours into our hearts the Gift that contains all gifts, the Holy Spirit.
The whole liturgical life of the Church revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the sacraments. There are seven sacraments in the Church: Baptism, Confirmation or Chrismation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony.
Sacraments are "powers that comes forth" from the Body of Christ, which is ever-living and life-giving. They are actions of the Holy Spirit at work in his Body, the Church. They are "the masterworks of God" in the new and everlasting covenant.
Our parish will celebrate a new tradition following the "Bambinelli Sunday" tradition begun at the Vatican. All are invited to bring the Christ-child figure from their home creche to Mass on the third Sunday of Advent (December 17) to be blessed. Click here for more information.
A sacramental confession is always a great blessing and source of grace, especially in preparation for the Church's great feasts. In addition to the usual Saturday confessions, we are providing an additional time on Tuesday, December 19. Click here for the Advent Confession schedule.
Owing to the numerous Christmas Vigil Masses on Sunday, December 24, there will NOT be an 8:00 AM Mass that morning. Click here to see the Masses for the Sunday obligation.
Thursdays are Days of Eucharistic Adoration at Our Lady of Sorrows, following the 9:00 am Mass until 6:00 pm. Visits can be made to the Blessed Sacrament at any time during office hours.
The Children's Liturgy of the Word will be offered at the 11:00 AM Mass on Sunday, November 5 & 12 and December 3 & 10. Children in grades K through 4 are invited to join us to hear God's Word and celebrate the Good News! Those attending return to their families for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
As the Eucharistic Revival continues, we invite you to grow closer to Jesus through the Jesus and the Eucharist study series. Specifically designed for this Year of Parish Revival, we will join other parishes throughout the US in a small group study as we journey through the National Eucharistic Revival.
