The Prayer Shawl Group will meeet at 1:30 PM on Monday September 16, in the Our Lady of Sorrows Church meeting room. If you or anyone you know is interested in making prayer shawls, please contact Joyce Farina at 888-0437. If you have any completed prayer shawls, or if you wish to donate yarn, call Joyce and she will make arrangements to meet with you. We also ask that you refrain from dropping off any completed prayer shawls or yarn at the parish office, and instead, call Joyce.

Awakening Faith is coming in October. Celebrate the Year of Faith by reconnecting with your Catholic faith. The program begins on October 15th. Watch here and in the bulletin for more information.

During August, 44 volunteers provided 245.8 hours of service (e.g. visiting, transportation, shopping, and chores) to 33 persons. Caring Hearts volunteers provide non-medical services to our homebound elderly and disabled neighbors. If you would like more information on joining this satisfying ministry, either as a caregiver or a care receiver, please contact Anne (588-6596; ark257@gmail.com).

Although next Sunday, September 15, is the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time, our parish will celebrate its Patronal Solemnity of Our Lady of Sorrows, who is the co-patron of our community, at both of our church locations. Following the last Sunday morning Mass at both churches next week, we will conclude our patronal celebration with light refreshments in the church halls.

Gennesaret, a retreat designed to provide a spiritual and temporal oasis for men and women suffering with a serious illness, will be held the weekend of October 18-20 at the Archdiocesan Retreat Center, located in Kearny. Since all priests of the diocese will be at their annual convocation in Avalon from Tuesday to Thursday, September 10-12, our deacons will preside at Liturgies of the Word with reception of Holy Communion on Wednesday and Thursday (September 11 and 12) at the usual Mass times. Please remember all priests in your prayers during this special time of prayer, study, and fraternity. The theme of the convocation is: The Spirituality of Stewardship.

The Adoration Chapel in Mary's Haven is closed for maintenance until further notice. We invite you to adore the most Blessed Sacrament in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Monday through Thursday from 7 AM to 7 PM, and Friday from 7 AM to 3 PM. Please understand that, at times, periods of silent adoration may be interrupted due to scheduled services and rehearsals.
