RENOVATION UPDATE

Weekend Mass Schedule

Our renovations are moving along at an ambitious pace in order to complete the project by Christmas. This is indeed a “work in progress” and so in order to address the problem of the limited space the church provides, we shall utilize both the church and its lower hall. It is our hope that this will alleviate the crowding and provide a more comfortable environment for worship. The additional Masses will be celebrated on Sunday morning 15 minutes after the usual Mass time upstairs.

The benefit of having two churches may also be a help in this situation.

The following parish weekend schedule will be in effect until the renovations increase the capacity of the “upper church.”

Saturday evenings

                                           4:30 p.m.          St. Anthony

                                           5:00 p.m.          OLS (Upper Church)

Sunday mornings

                                           7:30 a.m.          OLS (Upper Church)

                                           7:45 a.m.         OLS (Lower Hall)

                                           8:00 a.m.          St. Anthony

                                           9:00 a.m.          OLS (Upper Church)

                                           9:15 a.m.         OLS (Lower Hall)

                                           10:00 a.m.         `St. Anthony

                                           11:00 a.m.         OLS (Upper Church)

                                           11:15 a.m.       OLS (Lower Hall)

Liturgical Notes

Due to limited space and the increase in Masses, we shall suspend at Our Lady of Sorrows the custom of distributing the Holy Eucharist under both forms.  Moreover, the Masses celebrated in the hall will take a simpler and more quiet form.

We hope these changes will be helpful during this transition.  Remember that they are temporary inconveniences for permanent improvements.

Daily Mass during Renovation

The daily 7:00 a.m. Mass is now being celebrated in the lower church hall. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. This will help expedite the work so that it will be finished by Christmas.

Dear Parishioners:
During the weekend of July 11-12, I spoke at all the Masses at Our Lady of Sorrows Church regarding the interior renovation of the church—the third and final phase of the capital campaign project. Drawings of the
renovated church were on display in the lower church hall after the Masses.

I shall also speak of this work very soon during Masses at St. Anthony Church when information will
be shared regarding the construction of the long awaited elevator. Drawings of both projects will be
posted on our parish website and on the bulletin boards at both sites.

We shall all have to make adjustments. The work will take a few months but we hope all will be back to
normal before Christmastide. I ask your kind understanding regarding some of the changes we
shall have to deal with, bearing in mind that they are temporary inconveniences for permanent
improvements.

With affection
Msgr. Gervasio
