For many years, our parish was blessed with a wonderful model of
Christian discipleship,
Deacon Joseph Malloy. Joe preached many homilies on how to live as
Christians, but his most powerful homilies were those he preached
without using any words at all. Joe put his faith into action
through his tireless work with Martin House and the Mount Carmel
Guild, and each Christmas, he invited us to join him in living out
our Gospel values by sharing with those less fortunate than
ourselves. The Social Justice/Social Concerns Committee wants to
keep Joe’s memory and his example alive by continuing the
Adopt-a-Family program.
St. Francis of Assisi said, “For it is in giving that we
receive.” Your participation in our program surely will bring the
true meaning of Christmas into your life and brighten your sense of
joy. May you and all your family be abundantly blessed at Christmas
and throughout the coming year.
